Ah my first movie review. Rab ne bana dee jodi. Superly sweet movie, set in Amritsar, and as I was recently in that city, this did strike a chord. The Golden Temple bit is mesmerizing. Also there were a bunch of kids sitting behind me and given that the movie didnt really need me to concentrate, I was kindof enjoying their chatter.
So, theres was a scene when SRK doing his 'simple guy ' bit is taking a bath sitting on a stool on his haunches under a high tap on the terrace, and the kid behind me goes, 'mere papa bhi bilkul aise hee nahate hain' if that wasn't enough for the spontaneus giggle it invoked, he actually stood up and asked his dad (who was sitting a little away), 'Papa, aap ekdum aise hee nahate ho na ?'. This sent all the people within earshot into peels of laughter.
Allright back to the movie, SRK did his employed with Punjab Power bit flawlessly and the office antics were also brought out well. Anushka looks great in the patiala suits she adorns in most of the movie. Also the songs are great, esp the one with Kajol, Bipasha, Rani and Zinta. The movie does get a little longish in the end, but given that it was a 10:30 PM show and I had gone all by myself, I won't comepletely blame the movie for the odd yawn.
So all in all, a decent outing and you come out of the hall with a smile on your face. :-)
Cheers,
Vikram
P.S : Why, whenever I go to see a movie alone, am I placed next to a canoodling couple is something I'll never comprehend !

yawn... yawn.. and yawn ... the line "muhje aap main rab dekhta hain" was repeated in the whole movie arnd ..20 times..., movie has a baseless story , a typical ShahRukh khan movie..for my part there was no loss of money as DEShaw gave away free tickets .. but loss of time though..
Yeah but sometimes one has to leave one's brain behind to enjoy this stuff..right ?
Such mixed reviews...I think i wont take the risk to watch it in theatre... comp shud be good enuf :)
@Neha,
I think u'll like it. Maybe hall will be well worth a try!
i really don't know whats in this movie which is making it houseful.....
i m felling this is useless movie..
a complete fake and unacceptable things.....
they try to pursue an ordinary man but i think they forgot the difference between an ordinary man and a dumbo.....
and a person who is simple can be doing such hilarious things with so much confidence.....
mmmmmm
i don't know how come people have stop using their brain....
and till how much time only sharukh would sell the movie
@Isha
Thanks for ur comment. :)
The potrayal is obviously a little exaggrated to induce laughter amongst the audience, thats a given for bollywood yar.
However I disagree with your point about the inability of simple guy doing hilarious things. Sometimes, we have within oursleves to do a variety of different beahviour but we keep it down just coz the society has typecasted us into a specific role.
I enjoyed the movie, not too much of a brainer, but not too bad either.:-)
Aahhhh
u liked it...
my my
and I cant stop criticizing it :(((
Kabhi mere aangan me bhi tashrif layiye..apni hi duniya me khoye hue ho..
you went alone for the movie? that's very unlike you.
@Chakoli : U didnt like it at all ? And here was I thinking that girls wud like it even more.. :p
@Kropha : Dude tune to hadd kee hui hai, ek baar to mil ke ja..wapas Hel(L). Most people had already seen this movie the weekend before (and I was in Chandigarh then) so thats why. But I am not averse to going for a movie alone, you actually don't need company while watching a movie.. maybe only before and after.
admit it, u r srk's bi***.
it wasn't even a mindless caper like OSO + the chubby-cheeked girl was a turn-off.
Dude.. Hero is never the criteria.. unless ofcourse its a Sunny Deol movie..:D
Apni First movie review likne ke liye yehi movie mili kya... story tho baseless hein hi.. upar se sabne itna over acting kiya hein especially SRK...
Arre Asha jee.. itni buri bhi nahin thee..
Aap acche mood mein nahin gaye hoge.. :p
