looking away

all the time ..without fail whenevr i m travelling in train from college to home for vacations , or for any oder reason . they turn up, their eyes full of sorrow. looks envoking mercy , or trying their best to envoke mercy. sometimes alone sometimes carrying a baby, nursing a broken arm ..watevr.

and me trying my best to look away ..!! fighting my concience not to slip out that odd one ruppee coin i have in my pocket . after all i ask myself ..how many ??

to how many beggars will i keep giving these coins for they never seem to stop coming.

dont encourage beggary people say , but does reminding this always to urself when that wide eyed 8 year old having a tear or two (fake ..? ) says " bhiayya ek rupya de do.." helps u keep a clean conscience.even if u curb temporarily the urge to slip out "the coin" dusnt it make u feel sick to the stomach ?

okay , so wats the solution ..how can we the future of india ..help to eradicate this evil called beggary and extreme poverty ..after all what exactly can we do ?

Beggary is no doubt one of the many social evils plauging our society. Its a kindof a vicous circle, the more you encourage it by supporting it,the bigger the monster it becomes and deeper its roots go into our society. To present a different perspective on beggars,(they are not just out of work and out of food poor people)there is an entire synidicate of beggars with a proper hierarchy(atleast in major cities).
On a more philanthrophic note,it is always not possible to turn a blind eye to these,I would any day prefer giving them some food rather any money. This would atleast help eradicate the notion of beggary being a way for easy money from the minds of the poor people.
The only feasible solution to this is DISCOURAGE it and make the people more self respecting and try to bring in them the realization that they are equally capable to achieve and get what they want on their own.
I know these are harsh words, but then reality bites.

teach a man how to cook and he will never ask for food again.
they need help not sympathy. but for a few everybody has to suffer the skeptic eyes of ppl.
